This week’s GoonGames was themed around Hybrid!
Here’s Joey’s full breakdown of Hybrid on the Supplement Lab YouTube channel:
Q1: Hybrid works by supplying what for body fuel?
Answer: Exogenous Ketones + CarbohydratesHybrid is an incredibly unique product. We use exogenous ketones in combination with carbohydrates to help fuel the body for optimal performance, prolonged endurance, and explosive training without a bunch of caffeine. We all know that carbohydrates that are supplemented before or intra-workout are mostly used for glycogen replenishment(muscular energy.) in layman’s terms, this means that carbohydrates help replenish the diminishing energy levels in your muscle while you train; this helps prolong endurance to help you push past fatigue. Exogenous ketone supplementation before exercise has the potential to alter fuel selection during exercise and confer performance benefits. Additionally, a strong physiological basis exists that suggests potential benefits for supporting training and post-workout recovery.
Q2: Which ingredient is named after the Norse goddess of beauty?
Oh, the wonderful connection between minerals and Etymology! The Norse goddess of beauty is Vanadís, otherwise known as Freyja. Freyja is associated with love, beauty, fertility, gold, and Seiðr(the type of magic practiced in Norse society in the late Scandinavian Iron Age.) It’s extremely interesting when you research ingredients and they have a double meaning in Etymology; it really builds imagery around ingredients and makes it fun to learn! Vanadium is a mineral that is found in about 65 different minerals, phosphate rock, and types of iron ore. Vanadium is the 21st most abundant element in the Earth’s crust and the 2nd-to-most abundant transition metal in sea water. Vanadium is essential to some species – like humans! We do not need to eat a lot of Vanadium, but we need about .01 mg daily. It can also be considered a close blueprint of phosphate with respect to its built-up, vanadate likely takes over a regulatory function in metabolic processes depending on phosphate (we talk about phosphates in the next question!) The similarity between vanadate and phosphate accounts for the interplay between phosphate and vanadate dependent enzymes; Phosphates can be inhibited, kinases activated. Vanadium used in Hybrid is meant to help balance blood sugar levels & cholesterol levels and helps improve athletic performance in weight training.
Q3: Which of these can help increase the extraction of oxygen in your red blood cells?
Answer: PhosphatesJoey touches on this exact point in the Supplement lab on Hybrid. Let’s see what he has to say about phosphate supplementation and its mechanisms.
Q4: What would you stack with Hybrid and why?We had a lot of great stacks sent to use through this question, but these Goons were the first to submit their answer:
